Letter 89

To the same [Acacius the Memorialis, an imperial record-keeper]. You write to me that the monks are Levites [those wholly consecrated to God's service], devoting themselves to prayer and cleaving to God; and in perceiving this, you have gained the greatest things.

Λευΐτας γράφεις μοι ὑπάρχειν τοὺς μοναχούς, προσευχρίζοντας καὶ κολλωμένους Θεῷ, καὶ ταῦτ’ ἐννοῶν κεκέρδηκας μέγιστα.
