Gregory to Maximianus, Bishop of Syracuse.

The brothers who live with me in close company are strongly urging me to write something brief about the miracles of the holy Fathers performed in Italy — accounts we have heard from various sources. For this, I badly need your help. Please share with me, in brief, whatever comes to mind and whatever you happen to have personal knowledge of.

I recall your telling me something about the Abbot Nonnosus, who was with Anastasius of Pentomi, but I have now forgotten the details.

Please send me this and anything else you can recall by letter without delay — unless, of course, you are planning to come to me in person soon.
