This is Pales, whom I brought along when I came to stay with you, and whom I presented to you. I believe that the impression of his appearance will remind you both of my words and of your own promises.

The time for action has now come — confirm the hopes you raised in both me and this man. You will find him remarkable in what he asks. For he will seek nothing beyond what the law allows, and from those in power, he will count himself fortunate if only he is not treated unjustly.
