To Anthemius, subdeacon. Let him grant Palatina thirty solidi yearly for her support. Gregory to Anthemius, subdeacon. If with compassion we hasten with a kindly disposition to the needs of our neighbors, we without doubt find the Lord merciful to our own needs. For Palatina, an illustrious woman, has made known through unceasing hostility [against her] that she is subject to very many hardships. Therefore by the present authority we charge your experience that you do not delay to give thirty solidi yearly for her support, which may afterward be reckoned to your accounts. So act, then, that you yourself may receive the benefit of recompense by ministering well, and that you may carry out our instructions to their effect.
