Letter 11011: Brothers, I write to you in the matter of your new bishop.

Arethusa, a most distinguished woman, the bearer of the present letter, has long stayed with us, as you recall, on account of the matter of a legacy which Laurentius, the bishop of reverend memory, your bishop, had left to her and to her husband and to her children. For this reason we had sent our letter to Constantius, our brother and fellow bishop of recordable memory, that together with her he ought, with priestly zeal, to settle that very case and put an end to the disputes, the uproar ceasing. And this, just as [you are able to] know [...]. But because the bearer of this letter long lingered in this city and put off returning thither, it has not been possible to bring the matter to a conclusion until now. Therefore we exhort your beloved selves by the present letter that, when the aforesaid woman comes there, you show her the charity which befits the sons of the Church; and, when by God the author the church shall have been provided with a bishop, that you so act that the case itself, which has been delayed for a long time, ought without delay, with fairness preserved, to be brought to an end, so that neither may the aforesaid woman be further wearied, nor may you appear, contrary to the ecclesiastical purpose, to have denied to petitioners what is just.
