For me, its great charm is that it permits me to write to my friends by sea. Winter shuts the ports and cuts us off. Spring opens them again. So here is my letter — the first flower of the season, delivered to you by the first ship.

Letter 157: Spring [1] To Chryso-... note [Otherwise unknown.] To all others spring is delightful, because it beautifies the face of the earth with flowers and makes the whole country a meadow.
