Letter 26: Festal.
Festal.
The Lord's fountains of kindness flow unceasingly for those who believe — but something more is conveyed by the celebrations that preserve the memory of the greatest of his gifts, when they are observed with genuine devotion. We have just now celebrated the sacred feast and enjoyed its blessing, and so we greet your piety in this way — for the custom of the feast and the law of love both require it.
