One who does not doubt his son's love does not refuse to commend to him those whom he himself esteems. And therefore, since the patrimony of the church of Ravenna which is established in Sicily is said to have been so diminished, as though there were no one who could there manage its interests, it became necessary for our most reverend brother and fellow bishop Marinianus to give thought to the ordering of that very patrimony, lest it should decrease further. And because he has sent his deacon John for its administration, greeting you with fatherly affection we ask that, as we trust of you, you extend your charity in all things to him as to one sent by us.
