"When I was a child, I thought as a child," the God-inspired Paul wrote concerning his conduct under the law, during which, speaking as a child, he kept the law given to children, and, thinking as a child, he persecuted the Word, defending the law's precepts. "But when I became a man, I put away childish things." The law was a childhood; the gospel is the maturity toward which the law was always pointing.
